Life Extension – Will You Live To Be 120?

According to James Vaupel PhD, a demographer at Odense University Medical School in Denmark, any child born in Europe of the USA today can expect to live to be 100 years old. He base his findings on a review of birth and death data for millions of Swedes and Danes. The life expectancy of a Swedish centenarian and octogenarian has increased by 50% and 60% respectively over the last 50 years.

Although some experts claim that there is a natural cap on human lifespan due to genes that simply wear out, Vaupel claims that there is no such genetic cap, just a genetic tendency. As evidence, he points out that the natural lifespans of identical twins are no more alike than those of unrelated individuals.

Two hundred years ago the average life expectancy of an American was 35.5 years. In 1880 it was still only 42.6. In 1900 it had risen to 47. Today it is 78.7. It would be very surprising if…
