JetBlue will expand at the Worcester Regional Airport in central Massachusetts, saying it plans to add flights to its biggest hub at New York JFK.
JetBlue already flies from Worcester, where it is the only passenger airline currently offering scheduled service. JetBlue’s existing service from Worcester operates to its Florida bases of Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.
While Worcester passengers can connect to numerous destinations through each of those airports, the planned daily service to New York JFK would open up substantially more connecting options.
“You have really unleashed incredible opportunity for this region and this commonwealth by making this access to JFK,” Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito said Tuesday morning at an announcement event, according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
